Japanese Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Toshiyuki Iwado, officially handed over new facilities funded by Japan to Nakapande Secondary School in Binga District recently.

Through a local NGO, Christian Youth Volunteers Association Trust (CYVAT), Japan constructed two classroom blocks of two classrooms each, a three roomed teacher’s house and also provided furniture for 220 students and 9 teachers. The new facilities have significantly assisted the school. Some of the students were learning in makeshift classrooms with thatched roof, without furniture.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Ambassador Iwado urged the boys and girls to take advantage of the improved learning environment to study hard. He advised the community to actively participate in upgrading and maintaining the school for their children.
