UN Chief condemns Bulawayo violence

The UN Secretary-General, Mr  António Guterres has condemned the acts of violence witnessed at a ZANU PF rally in Bulawayo over the weekend.

“The Secretary-General condemns such acts of violence and calls for the perpetrators to be brought to justice.  He wishes the injured a quick recovery,” said Stéphane Dujarric, Spokesman for the Secretary-General

An explosion went off shortly after President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s address at the White City Stadium  injuring 49 people including Zimbabwe’s two vice presidents. So far two people have died of injuries from the explosion. The president who many believe was the target of the assassination  escaped unhurt.
