Major refurbishment is in progress at one of Southern Africa’s most vibrant hospitality groups Cresta Hotels’ Cresta Oasis Hotel and Apartments that will transform the hotel into an exciting venue at a total cost of $2,5 million .

Speaking at a media briefing at the hotel Cresta Hotels Country Director Ms Chipo Mandela said the refurbishment is an exciting development.

“This is a significant and exciting development that will cost Cresta Hotels about $2, 5 million and is scheduled for completion by the end of this calendar year,” Ms Mandela said.

Ms Mandela added that the major investment stems from the confidents and firm belief in the golden age market of travel and tourism into the region and Zimbabwe was spurred by changes that have taken place and continue in the macro-economic environment.

“Cresta Oasis Hotel and Apartments will be the natural home for conferences, long stay guests and short stay primarily from around Zimbabwe and across Southern African region and people within the city looking to be hosted and entertained in a stylish and modern manner,” she said.

Work at Cresta Oasis Hotel and Apartments will involve all apartments and bedrooms, all public areas and all conference rooms. A new conference room on the existing public bar will be created and will hold up to 80 people, with the old night club renovated into an exciting new bar and entertainment centre on the eastern side of the hotel.

Ms Mandela said all the bedrooms and apartments bathrooms are being upgraded.

“An important factor given that almost 60% of decision making related to choosing accomodation is based on perception of the bathroom,” she said.

In addition Ms Mandela said the hotel is opening a new entrance along Kwame Nkuruma Avenue closing entrance through the alley ways only using them as service lanes.

“As a result of the new entrance the reception will also be repositioned so that it faces the new entrance and we are also repaving all the car parks and installing car ports in the main car park to improve the aesthetics of the hotel,” Ms Mandela said.

The past six years has seen Cresta Group taking significant transformation through refurbishment of its hotels throughout the country namely Cresta Jameson, Cresta Oasis, Cresta Lodge all in Harare and Cresta Churchill Bulawayo and Cresta Sprayview in Victoria Falls
